Kitesurfing being a friendly sport, the kitesurfer must respect the environment, local regulations and other practitioners. In addition, for everyone’s safety, the kitesurfer must remain humble in the face of the elements and not overestimate his level of practice. Here are some navigation rules to follow:

  • If you are not autonomous or if you feel lacking in confidence, do not hesitate to contact a kitesurfing school labeled by the FFVL (French Federation of Free Flight) to take lessons or participate in a navigation framed.
  • Take a license accompanied by a certificate of no contraindication to the practice of kitesurfing.
  • Make sure your Civil Liability insurance covers the kitesurfing activity.
  • Consult the announced weather forecasts (Météo France, Météo Consult, Windguru,…).
  • Never sail alone and remember to notify a third party of your launch and your planned return.
  • Respect the take-off and launching areas.
  • Check that your practice and take-off area are clear of all potential dangers.
  • Even in summer, equip yourself with a full wetsuit and a buoyancy aid vest.
  • Have a perfect knowledge of its equipment and its security system. Consider regular maintenance and checking.

    Not to do :
  • Do not sail in stormy weather.
  • Do not sail in off-shore conditions because in the event of damage you will drift offshore.
  • In On-shore condition, do not sail along the beach because in the event of a fall or pilot error, the fall will take place on the beach at the risk of serious consequences!
  • Do not play “world champion” and overestimate your level of practice.
Some essential notions: – The least maneuverable rider or nautical device has priority. If you are in a priority situation facing a beginner or a nautical device in the process of maneuvering, show understanding and sportsmanship by diverting yourself from its trajectory. This requires observation and anticipation on your part.
